Bali is often called the "Island of the Gods," but for scuba divers, the true magic lies beneath the surface. Situated at the heart of the Coral Triangle, Bali boasts a staggering level of marine biodiversity that few other places on Earth can match. From the tiny, cryptic creatures sought by macro photographers to the awe-inspiring giants like Manta Rays and Mola-Mola, scuba diving in Bali offers something for every level of experience.
The Icons: What Makes Bali Diving Special?
There are several world-renowned dive locations in Bali that have put the island on the global diving map:
- Nusa Penida & Manta Point: Famous for year-round encounters with reef manta rays. The dramatic limestone cliffs of the south coast provide a stunning backdrop for these graceful giants.
- Tulamben & the USAT Liberty Wreck: arguably the most accessible shipwreck in the world. This WWII US Army cargo ship rests just meters from the shore, encrusted in vibrant corals and home to a resident school of thousands of bumphead parrotfish.
- Candidasa (Amuk Bay): Our home base. This area offers some of the healthiest coral reefs in Bali. Sites like Mimpang and Tepekong are legendary for their shark sightings and exciting drift dives.

Check PackagesDiving Bali Year-Round: What to Expect
One of the best things about diving in Bali is that there is never a bad time to visit. However, depending on what you want to see, some months might be better than others:
- Manta Ray Season: Year-round, with peak sightings during the drier months (May–September).
- Mola-Mola Season: Typically July to October, when cold upwellings bring these mysterious sunfish to shallower depths.
- Visibility: Generally best from April to November, often exceeding 25-30 meters at many sites.
